The entire length of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail stretches approximately 84 miles from Northampton, MA to New Haven, CT. The trail is a linear park or greenway that begins in New Haven and wends its way 54 miles north to the Massachusetts border and beyond. So the trail is basically a rail-trail, laid down where the tracks used to go. This appears to be an old railway trail that's been paved for bike and pedestrian traffic.
